“How lorises move: applying movement ecology to slow loris conservation”

“Movement can tell us a lot about how animals live and what selection pressures may have influenced their evolution. Using the movement ecology paradigm, I consider how slow lorises move (locomotion) and where they move (directed travel) in a montane agroforest. In this talk, I will present research on physical ontogeny and navigational strategies. Studying a Critically Endangered primate also motivates me to consider how my research serves practical work; thus, I will conclude by highlighting how theoretical work in evolutionary anthropology can pair well with conservation efforts.”
