Biography

Patricia Aparicio´s research analyzes the formation and transformations of agrarian systems over the last millennium in the Andes. The research focuses on the construction and technological form of the agrarian systems and the crops that were grown and harvested on the installations. Moreover, her studies examine the symbolism of the landscape for the communities that built and used them. Her research analyzes how different local and supra-local polities influenced the territorial transformations of the agrarian landscape.

She is director of the project: “The Formation of agrarian landscapes in the Central Andes of Peru. The study of pre-Hispanic agrarian and livestock landscape of the Sondondo valley, Peru”. She is the Director of Events for the Canadian Latin American Archaeology Society (CLAAS) https://www.claas-canada.com/
