Application Deadlines

PhD program: December 7, 2016

NOTE: This is the deadline by which all application materials must be received. In addition to a completed application form and supporting documents you upload yourself, you must arrange for two faculty members familiar with your academic work to submit on-line reference letters on your behalf. You must supply the names of these referees and their institutional email addresses on your application form. An electronic message will then be sent to each referee with instructions for submitting the reference on-line. Please be advised that the application fee should be paid by November 23, 2016 in order to give your referees two weeks to prepare and submit their references . After December 7, 2016, the on-line application system will not accept any supporting documentation, including reference letters.

All applicants to the PhD program are encouraged to submit an application for the Ontario Graduate Scholarship – details below.

Master’s programs: January 20, 2017

NOTE: This is the deadline by which all application materials must be received. Please be advised that the application fee should be paid by January 6, 2017 in order to give your referees two weeks to prepare and submit their references . After January 20, 2017, the on-line application system will not accept any supporting documentation. Regrettably, the department will not be able to consider any applications for admission to the 2017/18 Master’s programs from International (VISA including U.S.) students.

Canada Graduate Scholarship – Master’s Program

Application Process

When completing a CGS M application, students may select up to 5 separate universities (one graduate department per university) where they intend to pursue graduate studies and hold the award. Once completed and submitted online, the entire application will be available to all the proposed universities the student has listed. Students applying for an award at U of T will not be required to submit a paper application.

Applicants must complete and submit the online application using the Research Portal. Students should refer to the CGS M application instructions currently housed on NSERC’s website for details on how to complete their application. Additionally the Canadian Common CV (CCV) must be completed and the confirmation number uploaded into the CGS M application on Research Portal.

Ontario Graduate Scholarship –

Ontario Graduate Scholarships (OGS)

Purpose
The Ontario Graduate Scholarship Program recognizes academic excellence in graduate studies at the master’s and doctoral levels in all disciplines of academic study. The OGS program at U of T is jointly funded by the Province of Ontario and the University of Toronto.

Value
The value of the OGS is $5000 per term. Thus, awardees may receive $10,000 for two consecutive terms or $15,000 for three consecutive terms.

Application Procedure
Beginning with the 2013-14 competition, the University of Toronto is responsible for the awarding of the scholarships held at U of T. The School of Graduate Studies has created a centralized on-line application system:

For the application please submit:
• Two academic references (referees will be required to submit on-line)
• Transcripts from all post-secondary institutions
• Plan of study (approx. 500 words)
• Previous awards/publications/conference/research experience
Important note for prospective students: Students must submit an OGS application to each institution for which they are seeking admission. OGS awards are not transferrable from one university to another.

Deadlines
For the Department Anthropology, the deadline for receiving the complete application is January 20, 2017

Duration
Each scholarship is tenable for one year (i.e. two consecutive or three academic terms) as determined by the department and detailed in the offer letter.
