What and where to buy

The following are the required texts for the course, in addition to online journal articles required for your essay, and the online reading for the linguistic and semiotic anthropology lectures. LOOK AT THE LECTURES PAGE TO SEE WHEN EACH TEXT IS NEEDED.

  • Shawn Lehman, Introduction to Evolutionary Anthropology (Toronto: Pearson Canada, 2010). Packaged with custom selections from Carol R. Ember, Melvin Ember and Robert D. Hoppa, Physical Anthropology and Archaeology (Toronto: Pearson Prentice Hall, 2006).
  • Conrad Kottak, Mirror for Humanity: A Concise Introduction to Cultural Anthropology, 8th edition (New York: McGraw-Hill).

We have a working relationship with the University of Toronto Bookstore. We are not certain if other book stores will be selling the Lehman/Ember etc. package, which has been put together to save you money. For information, you would need to contact the individual book store.

Should I buy used books?

We do not guarantee that used texts will be appropriate for use with this year's lectures. You would be purchasing a used text at your own risk.
